SPAS
Book treatments before you arrive in a city. Even if the spa is located at your hotel, you may have trouble getting the treatment you want when you want or maybe even at all.
Don’t think that spas are just for women. About 80% of spa goers are female, but men are a fast-growing market. Many spas have special treatments and programs designed specifically with men in mind.
Visit a hotel’s spa even if you’re not staying there. An incredible number of hotels, and not only high-end luxury ones, have opened spas in the past few years—they’re becoming as commonplace as swimming pools. The vast majority of these hotel spas offer day packages for nonguests, and often these deals include use of other hotel facilities, such as health clubs, pools and sundecks, tennis courts, and even business centers.
Jump-start your fitness program with a spa vacation. If you really want to enjoy the full spa experience, consider staying at a resort or hotel that’s geared entirely or largely around spa activities. Destination spas are self-contained environments. All guests are there precisely to enjoy the spa experience, and because of that, you’ll usually find a sense of camaraderie. If you’re looking to begin a weight-management program, embark on a fitness regimen, or make other lifestyle changes, a destination spa is best. You’ll be totally immersed in an atmosphere of wellness along with other like-minded people, away from the temptations found at most resorts.
Think about the type of spa that suits your style. Spas come in all shapes and sizes but can be broken down into several key categories with different emphases: luxury pampering, nutrition and diet, sports conditioning, holistic health, medical wellness, and mineral-spring treatments. Some spas focus on more than one of these areas, and deciding what your own interests and goals are will greatly enhance your spa experience.
